Eight students in grades 6-8 were selected to attend a two-day, statewide, Power Over Prejudice Summit hosted by Georgia Tech.
Our Mount Vernon representatives: Melinda Carden, Micah Davis, Eric Harris, Shannon McCarthy, Aquil Merchant, Alex Mette, Katieanne Peterson and Sarah Schab, participated in multiple workshops demonstrating the damage created by stereotyping, bullying and prejudice. Upon their return to School, each student passionately conveyed the strong message to their fellow students – that the upward spiral of positive actions and reactions will make the world a better place.
Able to spread the word to others about what it means recognize and stand up for any one that is discriminated against for any reason, the panelists presented tips to fellow classmates about justice and equality for all regardless of race, religion, or background.
#MVMiddle – leading the charge.
