Last week, in honor of Valentine’s Day, Lower School students participated in a number of different projects to share the love with the local community, as well as the Mount Vernon alumni family.

Kindergarten students spent the morning packing Valentine’s Day themed care packages to be sent to the Mount Vernon Class of 2019 alumni. Students added a hand-made Valentine to each box, as well as goodies donated by Class of 2019 parents. To top it off, each Kindergarten student signed their name to the box, so each alumni knew it was packed with love by a Mount Vernon student.

In Grades 1 and 2, students traveled down the road to the Sandy Springs Library. Each Mustang designed bookmarks that were left behind to be distributed to guests of the library.

Right in the School’s backyard, Grade 3 students went to the Mount Vernon Village. Students walked the hallways and attached Valentine cards they had made to the residents’ doors.

Down Mount Vernon Highway, Grades 4 and 5 went to visit the residents of Mount Vernon Towers. Prior to Valentine’s Day, students created cards that they placed on the chairs of the Sun Porch, where the residents have lunch. This served as a nice surprise for residents when they arrived for an afternoon program.
