Last week, a group of Middle School performers hit the road to showcase “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley.” The cast and crew traveled to four locations to share their show and performed twice at Mount Vernon for both students and families.

Traveling to Cumberland Academy of Georgia, the Sandy Springs Library, Mount Vernon Towers, and Spalding Drive Elementary, performers not only put on a show, but they also loaded and unloaded a truck full of set designs and equipment – in the rain!

“The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” is based on the beloved children’s book, written by Jeff Brown in 1964. Timothy Allen McDonald, writer of “Willy Wonka” and “James and the Giant Peach” then took everyone’s favorite two-dimensional hero, Flat Stanley, and gave him a new life in this theatrical performance.

The show was brought to life at Mount Vernon by:
Kiera Campbell – Stanley
Steven Patrick – Arthur
Nick Schweninger – Mr. Lambchop/Go-Go Dancer
Sierra Peterson – Mrs. Lambchop/Go-Go Dancer
Caleigh Clark – Mrs. Cartero/Go-Go Dancer
Caleb Campbell – Dr. Dan/Napoleon/Herb Wavercrest
Avery Cole – Bulletin Board/Go-Go Dancer
Piper Hendryx – Hollywood Agent/Bikini Wahini/O’Jay D’Art
Justin Garner – Hollywood Assistant 1/Sneak Thief/Go-Go Dancer
Ryanne Kelly – Hollywood Assistant 2/Mona Lisa/Go-Go Dancer
Holly Vogt – Samantha/Go-Go Dancer

Crew for the show included:
Caroline Davis – Student Assistant Director
Shea Griffith – Stage Manager
Sound Technician – Sonoma Peterson
Matthew Zeldin – Props Master

While on their two-day tour, performers sang along to their own professionally produced tracks that they captured in the Upper School recording studio. This not only gave them experience in the recording studio but also made it possible for them to perform in any type of space during their tour.

Following their traveling performances, both cast and crew served as MVXperts and visited the Preschool to host a Q&A with students about the production of the show. They also helped Preschool students make their very own Flat Stanley!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley!”
