A little more than a month into the 2021-2022 school year, and the Mount Vernon community feels stronger than ever.

After many months without School-wide events, the School has come alive with parents, grandparents, and alumni reunited on campus, in addition to faculty, staff, and students.

After coming together with purpose at Orientations and Convocation, the Mount Vernon community also gathered together for the first home football game and community-wide BBQ and most recently, our 5th annual Rock the Block celebration.

The first home football game, where the Mustangs hosted Trinity, saw a record crowd. The theme in the student section was fire and ice, playing off of a popular MV cheer, β€œRED HOT!” Students and families from Preschool through Grade 12 joined together to support the Mustangs, build community and connection, and share in a picnic-style, BBQ meal provided by FLIK, and the new Renegade made his football game debut.

Last week, Mount Vernon parents, faculty and staff, grandparents, and alumni gathered on the Upper Campus Green, between the Upper and Middle School buildings, for the School’s 5th annual Rock the Block, marking the first time its been held on campus.

With an 80’s theme, attendees were dressed in their best throwback attire as they danced the night away to 80’s tribute band, We Got the Beat.

At Mount Vernon, we know that relationships are foundational to learning, but we also know that we are a School known for its community. Being reunited in celebration of the School’s 50th year, the Mount Vernon community feels stronger than ever. We are better together.

As we move further into the school year, be sure to mark your calendars for Homecoming on Friday, October 15. More details to come soon.
