Volleyball and Softball Mustangs Land Postseason Honors

After a thrilling season that saw the Varsity Softball team advance to the Elite 8 for the first time in program history, the Mustangs have been awarded with nine players earning spots on the All-Area 3 Private Team. 

“We are so proud of all of our girls as they contributed to our Elite 8 run in Columbus,” Head Coach Mike Edmonson said. “Their hard work and determination paid off and it’s great to see them rewarded at the end of a great season.”

Below are the players who were named to the All-Area 3 team, as voted on by coaches, and their accompanying awards from the season.

Class of 2024 Grace Westmoreland: All Area-3 Team and Pitcher of the Year
Class of 2022 Savanna Messner: All Area-3 Shortstop and Co-Offensive Player of the Year
Class of 2024 Reagan Hickey: All Area-3 Catcher and Co-Defensive Player of the Year
Class of 2022 Bella Dishman: All Area-3 Outfield
Class of 2022 Kendall Slayden: All Area-3 Second Base
Class of 2025 Kennedy Reynolds: All Area-3 Outfield
Class of 2022 Jane Holliday – All Area-3 Third Base
Class of 2023 Frances Hunt: All Area-3 First Base
Class of 2025 Reese Hickey – All Area-3 2nd Team

On the court, the Varsity Volleyball team finished their season 27-10 with three players being named to the All-Region 5-1A team.

Class of 2025 Sophia Van Name, Class of 2022 Ella Dawson, and Class of 2022 Olivia Ramsey all received All-Region honors for their stellar play in the 2021 season.

“We are extremely proud of all of our young ladies, and especially Sophia, Ella, and Olivia,” shared Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Sharon Burnette. “They helped lead us to a great season and are great role models on and off the court for our program. 

“All of our ladies had a great regular season and we are excited with the direction our program is taking.”
