During Mod 1 in the Upper School, a group of Innovation Diploma students learned how to write and share their own stories in How to Tell a Story, a class led by MV teachers Brad Droke and Krista Fancher.

Throughout the Mod, students wrote three to five stories, then chose their favorite to showcase during the Story Slam, held September 17. Throughout their story writing, students learned to both recognize and apply story structure to give their personal narratives a story arc.

To accompany their story-telling performances, each student also made a poster showing the title of their personal story.

Krista Fancher was most impressed that the students overcame their nerves and fears of sharing their stories publicly, and that each student delivered their piece without any notes.
