Happy Faculty Friday, Mustangs! Meet Anne Hopkins, our Director of Community Engagement.
Originally from South Carolina, Anne has called Atlanta home for 15 years. She has worked in the development/fundraising arena for more than nine years, and she loves meeting new people! Anne and her husband have three children - Harrison, Millie and Mary Gardner - and one dog, Agnes.
Over the last few weeks in their Visual Art class, Grade 4 students have learned about Toro Nagashi, a Japanese ceremony where participants float paper lanterns in water. After learning about the history of this festival, students asked, "How might we create lanterns inspired by Toro Nagashi?" The criteria the set for their own lanterns included a nature aspect (like an animal or plant), a simple design and a light enhancing design.
Join Dr. Jacobsen on The Frontier, Mount Vernon's Lower Campus outdoor play-to-learn area, to hear how intentional play is part of a child's social, physical, and mental development. #MVin72Seconds#bettertogether#mvpschool
